Hello! I'm glad you wanted to learn about me, or maybe you just ended up here by accident when googling 'crazy Ukrainian designer portfolio', who knows (well.. only you know :) Either way, glad to have ya!

My name is Roman. I design, paint, read, cook and occasionally eat weird stuff (Bizarre food got nothing on moi). Oh yeah, huge sci-fi nerd. That's the summary, enjoy the ride.

My name is Roman. I design, paint, read, cook and occasionally eat weird stuff (Bizarre food got nothing on moi). Oh yeah, huge sci-fi nerd. That's the summary, enjoy the ride.

I was born in a small mining town in South central part of Ukraine called Marhanets (named after Manganese ore, because you know.. they extracted Manganese ore and it seemed like an easy choice for naming a whole town, right).

Growing up, I always drew and painted something, even during classes when I was supposed to pay attention. My favorite class were always Art and Crafts. At 6th grade, I decided to paint a scene on paper that showed a bridge between Ukraine and USA because we had a very active exchange program for students. My art teacher ended up getting permission from school to paint an actual full size mural in one of the walls in my school hall after she saw it. That was a very cool and inspiring moment in my life when I realized I was actually good at creating art and design.

Journey as a UI/UX Designer

Some years later, my life journey took me to USA where I graduated with the degree in Graphic Design with minor in Web Development. Most of my experience comes from working as in multiple disciplines at big marketing and web design agencies, doing UI/UX and even front-end work. In the past few years my design approach and thinking have matured drastically while working as a digital Product designer on some really challenging e-commerce and Fin-tech projects. To me, thinking strategically, adapting to new tech, planning for long-term impact and also focusing on user research and developing feedback loops have became main factors that contributed to my professional growth.

What I absolutely love about UI/UX work is the moment you realize at the end that you have solved someone's problem, either business or user friction some organization had, and seeing how much positive impact that can bring. I am always curious about current and future technologies, I love when the day isn't the same and every time I look for ways to challenge myself and my understanding of the digital world and its complex problems. I have learned front-end and motion graphics because it helped my company solve client problems faster while keeping the cost down. I have planned and designed user experiences and interfaces for large e-commerce businesses with minor tweaks that were successfully converting thousands of dollars plus. Every project's impact is what always drives me as a UI and UX designer, and I am always passionate about communicating solutions to the users, no matter the industry.

In my free time, I love to cook, watercolor, listen to dubstep, travel, and watch sci-fi movies. When I want to get really crazy, I even go to take a walk at the local park to get away from the city noise, you should try it too!
